Beauty and the beast by wendy mass6/6/2023 Not necessarily in pace, but in the flow of the story. The beginning of the book is incredibly slow. Mass was not attempting to retell the story of Belle and her Beast instead she took the basic premise of a cursed prince and magical kiss and then ran 30 miles in the opposite direction. But as I neared the end, I realized that Ms. At first I was slightly disappointed, feeling as though the main theme of the story had been lost. Beauty doesn’t have to melt the heart of the beast, because Riley is already good-natured. While the original tale of a beauty and her beast is chock full of morals and is the story of the taming of a beast this retelling is not so. I have read the other two books in this series ( Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel), but realized that I have yet to read the third installment - even though it has sat on my shelf now for almost a year now.īeauty and the Beast is not my favorite fairy-tale (although I love what it represents), but I found it hard to identify the parallels between the two stories. But I am a fan of Wendy Mass and a lover of fairy-tales. But the end of both journeys will lead them to exactly where they need to be: with each other. Both have an adventure upon which they discover secrets about themselves one on a quest with a boy named “Handsome” and one trapped within his own castle. Riley and Beauty do not know each other, but they soon will. Riley no doubt fits his nickname of “Beast” due to an unfortunate encounter with a witch. 1 note FebruTwice Upon a Time (#3): Beauty and the Beast by Wendy Mass
